Getting hot enough for you?? This last week we've had some pretty hot days here in Toronto and I thought this was the perfect time to let you know about the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) 2012 Report on Safe Sunscreens.
They look at data and studies on certain ingredients and then rate the safety of each sunscreen and let you know how much research was available for each rating. Its a fantastic report that arms you with the knowledge and information to make a better decision next time you're at the drugstore or supermarket buying sunscreen! And, more importantly, check the products you already have at home on this list - you will be surprised that many of our 'brand name' most popular brands are unfortunately (but not surprisingly) not the safest for us and our kids.
Please take a moment and look through this list and at the same time, see which ones scored at the top and try to find those brands at your local shops and/or health food stores.
Protecting yourself from the sun is so important - but doing so safely is paramount.
Wishing you sunny days,
Dr. Shamira
