The promo got me. I succumbed to the hype, I admit. I wanted to see it. Guess which movie I'm talking about?
Sci-fi flick Wanted finally released over the last weekend and I did manage to see it yesterday. The film is definitely interesting and I would recommend a watch if you don't get squeasy at the sight of blood and gore. But the music... now that's what got me to pay attention...
The soundtrack is credited to Danny Elfman, an American composer who has many credits to his name. Most famously, The Simpsons Theme and film soundtracks like The Kingdom, amongst others. He was supposedly a part of a rock band and you can tell that he is greatly influenced by classic and alternative rock, even the ear-shattering loud kind. And I have to say, I loved the soundtrack - both songs and background score.
Wanted has a great soundtrack that shows Elfman in good form. With a great rocking anthem, the music just adds to the adrenaline rush in the film. There are many high-action sequences and the music just backs up the visuals all the way. Highly-publicised promo sequences like the one where Angelina Jolie sweeps in to rescue James McAvoy use music to great effect. Some crazy guitars, great vocals and a strong baseline add to the visual effects employed in this film.
Have a listen to my favourite track from the film... Little things...
I agree that the movie is definitely worth a see in theatres. Did not really think about the music but I would have to say that it fit very well with the action! But then again, I am a guy... :)
