Do sneaky little camera-thingamajigs scare you? Are you surprised to find tiny hidden security lenses when you least suspect them? Whether or not these surveillance cameras actually reduce crime, you have to give a band from Manchester, England credit for doing something quite innovative. Making a music video. But not just any music video, a video made from surveillance footage! Watch the video here...
The UK Telegraph reported that a new Brit band, called "The Get Out Clause" from Manchester used Britain's million-odd security cameras to good effect. They picked locations all across the city and performed in front of the CC TVs. Then under the UK's Freedom to Information Act, they sent out requests to a bunch of organizations/companies to retrieve their video footage! For FREE!
Whoever said necessity is the mother of invention wasn't kidding! The guys apparently didn't have enough money to shoot a "proper" video so they came up with this ingenious trick. It's a pretty neat idea when you think of it. Now not only do they have a video, they're saving tons on publicity, thanks to the news reports all over the world!
Music videos have sure come a long way. And I'm glad to see something creative and cool that doesn't necessarily have gorgeous women breaking out into stylistic choreography or the cliched live show setting. Irrespective of how the band does in future years, it'll be remembered for this rather cool music vid. Great stuff!
