We’re back! The second time’s a charm!
The birth of Fusia was beautiful and now she’s one sassy little toddler! ;) Blessed with a community that embraced and supported Fusia so whole-heartedly, we are able to bring all the passion, fire and fuel that Fusia offers to life again.
Much of our latest issue comes from a place of bliss, and a personal place of the exploration of love. So, you’ll find articles like ‘The Rules of Engagement’ & ‘Cold Feet..and How To Warm ‘Em Up’, which explore many of the questions we have before stepping into the wild world of commitment and marriage.
When it comes to fashion and beauty, the brown Carrie Bradshaws of the world are in for a treat! From a look back at ’40 Years of Sexy’, ‘Runway Report’ to the hot summer trend file for all Desi Fashionistas, put down those Prada purses, pull out those D&G specs and enjoy some decadent indulgence....It’s like gelato for the fashion soul. :)
But, if I only had one phrase to describe this issue it would be ’LIFE ON THE EDGE’. So many of the people that inspired this issue: our readers, our contributors and the sheer fact that such a magazine is proudly displayed on shelves across our nation as a reflection of life on the edge. Many of our insight and feature pieces are about women who are living on the edge, though not always by choice. Be it the deplorable tales of the caste system, where the untouchables are made to live on the edge and are marginalized in our society, even to this day, here in Canada, so far away from where these archaic traditions were born. Or be it the decision to come out to your family as a homosexual, or reveal that you are living with HIV/AIDS in the South Asian community. Then there is deciphering the blurry lines of emotional abuse - these are all topics raised in this issue and each story marks a life on the edge.
Every story written in Fusia is one with purpose. Our editorial mission is to always embody spirit, positivity and living your best life. Our cover features the sultry, sassy and stunningly beautiful actress and intellect Lisa Ray. A woman who truly embraces living life on the edge, Lisa opens her heart for our readers as she shares her journey over the past two years, from YELLOW and back, to modeling, moksha [liberation] and Oh My Gold!
For our second issue, we are very proud to once again be supporting Plan Canada and their ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign – just by purchasing this magazine you have already made a difference towards the empowerment and education of young girls around the world.
Fusia is freedom – faith – fascination. Fusia is fun – fearless – fabulous. It’s all about celebrating and redefining femininity and being completely unapologetic about it! Enjoy this issue and all of its bold and vibrant colours and commentary! We hope many of the stories provoke you. The goal is simple –think - whether you think about something you’ve never thought about before, or maybe think about it in a different way. The path to change…to living life on the edge… but on our terms has started.
Welcome back to the world of Fusia, where fashion meets compassion à la South Asian style. Welcome back to Generation ‘f’!
