Hi folks! Hope you're enjoying the holidays - spending time with loved ones, friends and family & enjoying all the wonderful food (and mild weather so far!). I wanted to write my last blog post for 2012 and share my personal commitment for 2013. No, not a resolution but a commitment. Although I do 'resolve' to do this, I think commitment is a better way to describe it.
For me, I don't have the usual 'resolutions' or goals. Its simpler yet more difficult than that.
I spent a fair amount of time recently reflecting on 2012 and all the wonderful things that have happened in my life - living in NYC, moving back home, having a baby and soon restarting my practice, Art of Wellness, and I am truly grateful for all that 2012 has brought. However, I feel like through the madness of this year and all the wonderful changes, I've lost touch overall to my spiritual side - the real 'me' inside, so to speak. So this is my wish for 2013 - to reconnect to having a more conscious, intentional, aware, and present 2013. So my commitment is simple (yet difficult) - I commit to being present. In the NOW. Alive. Awake. Aware.
How do I plan to achieve this? Well, to remind myself to stay present (and not get lost in my to do list, or the myriad of thoughts that travel through my brain at the speed of light sometimes) I have put a thin bracelet on my right hand which I will wear everyday to remind me to come back to the NOW.
Will it work? I'm not sure, but I am committed to trying. Because for me, having a connection to the
preesnt moment IS having a connection to spirit and all-that-is. And I am commiting to re-starting a daily meditation practice - no rules, no minimums. Just some quiet time everyday.
I hope you too will find something that is meaningful to you and commit to it. Something deeper than losing weight, changing a habit or starting a project. Something that will help you step towards your greatest potential within yourself.
If you feel the urge, please share your commitment to 2013 below.
As always, thank you for reading this blog and supporting me so that I may continue to bring you what I believe is the best advice, tips, information and sometimes just random thoughts on wellness, well-being and how to live fully and deeply.
With deep gratitude, I wish you the very best for 2013.
Truly,
Dr. Shamira

Be sure to continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if you do not experience improvement right away.
